Coaching, from the perspective of methods, can be interpreted and used as a technique in psychological supervision or therapy. In contrast to this, coaching as a business can be viewed at as an independent profession within the service industry. For this to be accepted in the ranks of high-class consultancy, a broad range of processual criterions have to be fulfilled. Coaches must ground their practice in a solid theoretical understanding and in empirically tested models. An explicit movement towards the scientist-practitioner-model of coach training and practice is vital for the development of the coaching industry.
